...is a techo-thriller from Steven Konoly, an Annapolis grad and veteran. The US is hit by a possible EMP attack and Alex Fletcher, the book's protagonist, Iraq vet and uber-prepper, is off to Boston with two neighbors to rescue his son and his girlfriend while the families head off to his parents last redoubt in rural Maine. Pretty decent writing with lots of minutiae on guns and ammo. Darth should enjoy this one. This is going to be a trilogy and the second book has just been released. A Kindle Prime membership gives me one free book per month from their Lending Library and this was my choice for Feb. Paperback will cost you $13. Kindle e-book $5.

Sounds good.

Is the Kindle Prime membership the same thing as the Amazon Prime membership?

Yes. You can only download the book on to the Kindle from the lending library. It won't work on a Kindle reader on Macbooks or PC.

The free lending library is only for Kindle devices. However you can purchase the e book for $5 and read it on any Kindle reader app
His second book is also available now. "Event Horizon". I only get one free book a month so I'll have to wait until March.

Just finished it and I have to say I enjoyed it. Fast moving with lots of shoot em up. I'm trying to make my Amazon Prime membership pay for itself so I'll have to wait until next month to borrow his next book.

I've used the Amazon Prime app on my smart TV quite a bit as there are programs and movies there that aren't available on Netflix.

I can mirror my iPhone 5s to my Apple TV with my Amazon App and then watch the big screen. Haven't played much with it yet but from what I've seen the selection of Prime Movies is about as thin as Netflix Streaming. I still watch most of the movies on Netflix DVD. At least they have most of the recent ones.

Perseid Collapse Empty Re: Perseid Collapse

Finished Steven Konkoly's "Event Horizon", book #2 in the Perseid Collapse trilogy. Alex Fletcher, the book's protagonist makes it back from Boston after rescuing his son and his girlfriend only to run into a local militia leader hell bent on revenge. A battle royale ensues with an amazing amount of gun play. I enjoy the books mostly although the constant listing of types of guns, types of ammo, types of food, etc can get tiring. I've lost count of how many people Fletcher has had to kill. The final book will be out in August or September.

This month's Kindle Library selection is "Mind's Eye" by Douglas Richards. This is another science/techno thriller about a guy who wakes up in a dumpster with amnesia. Soon we find out he is being pursued by a plethora of assassins because he has being a subject of some operation that has installed some computer chips in his brain and he finds out he not only has ESP but also a blazing fast link to the Internet. Pretty wild story so far although the romance angle is kind of lame. About half the way through.

I find your typing somewhat erotic in nature...more about the guns and ammo!

Post  Gomezz Adddams Sat Aug 02, 2014 6:10 pm

It's a new month and I get to check out a new book off of Kindle's Lending Library as part of my Prime membership. I couldn't find anything on the list worth a sheet (go figure) but after a search of Steven Konkoly I found the third book of the "Perseid Collapse" available as a free download for the Kindle Free Library. So why isn't this on the list? Amazon really pisses me off at times and this is one of the reasons.

I hope "Point of Crisis" wraps up this series. Although it's been a fun read most of the time, it has it's moments with all the technical jargon. No sheet, there's a four page glossary of military acronyms, terminology and jargon. Arrghhh!
