Crocuses are up

Always the first flower out of the ground. Tired of just seeing one or two volunteer crocus come up in a rock garden, I put in two beds of the suckers last fall after I gave about 80 bulbs to my wife for Mom's Day since she thinks cut flowers are a waste. The shoots are pretty tiny but I can count about two dozen if I'm careful and brush back the wood chips. And yes I cover them back up. Weird little flower since the foliage dies back after about a month after blooming. Also there is a crocus that blooms in the fall and it's stamen forms the spice saffron.
