Illegal Tamales?
Well we can be safe secure and snug in our beds tonight folks. The illegal tamale smuggling ring has been squashed. The sad thing is, now where are the illegals in our country going to get authentic, just like home, tamales for their meager holiday celebrations? Perhaps it was the presence of pork that is the problem, might offend a Muslim, can't have that in the good old USA can we.
Seriously folks, the tamale is a holiday tradition in the Hispanic community and families have been bringing them over the border from the "home farms" for centuries. Not at all unlike Germans or others importing their fave holiday foods etc from their "home" country. Problem is there's no way that a family member in say, Guymas, can brew up a batch of the really good tamales and get them into the country legally. We had good friends of the family who are Hispanic and had been in So Calif since the 1860s. Their home farms were in the area around Puerto Vallarta, where their relatives grow Agave for the Tequila distillers. The family was relatively rich in land owning a few hundred acres of citrus in the 50s and 60s. They honored us with two dozen of their special tamales every Christmas. Too bad. Now some poor immigrant is being denied his holiday traditional tamales, what's the world coming to?
OBTW, perhaps we won't be getting our fantastic tamales this year?

Maybe something can be arranged so Obama's Syrian refugees can bring them in to the poor illegals.

I love tamales anytime! Been keeping my eyes peeled at Sam's Club as they usually start stocking tamales this time of year. Nothing yet.

My son the cop gets a few dozen from a vendor that visits the cop shop. We get about a dozen from them but they just aren't the same as the ones we used to get from Mexico.
