$40/hr sounds pretty good doesn't it but there is a slight problem...

Pilots, stewardesses get paid once wheels are up and the plane is in the air. They do not get paid when the plane is sitting at the gate or on the tarmac. I would guess the average pilot pay for regional jets is around $30k/yr. Too bad they don't get paid for doing nothing like the ag sector.

Looks like new Federal regulations have boosted the cost of training too which comes out of the pilot's pockets. Tough to pay for $100K of training on $30K of wages.
