Britain votes to leave the European Union. British Prime Minister David Cameron may be leaving too since the referendum was his idea. Gold up $71. Pound at 30 year low. Stock markets are going go south tomorrow. DOW futures are already down 700+. As Bette Davis said, “Fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride”.

Good for England... the Globalist wet dream of one World nation is coming undone.

This is an advisory referendum, not a mandatory referendum. They would have to invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty for it to be legally binding. A move that Boris Johnson, the presumptive new Prime Minister, has said he is in no rush to do. Then they would have two years to iron out the details. I would put the Vaseline away for now.

Any British politician that wants to ignore the results of the Brexit vote would be committing political suicide.

Johnson was one of the leaders of Vote Leave so don't expect him not to follow through. No doubt this will take time to shake out but the effects on the global economy will continue.

This could be voted on again at any point, and there's not much margin for error in this vote.  This vote is a direct result of the "Bernie Effect" and these people would cut off their nose to spite their face.  People on the right hate the EU because they're on the right,  and people on the far left hate the EU because they feel that they are a bunch of corrupt politicians who aren't doing enough, and this is the end result.

I see one of three things happening.  The far left will realize that things could be much worse and go back to the voting booth.  The EU will take steps clean up their image to turn some votes back in another vote.  The current referendum will stand, the new government will make a few token demands of the EU, and they will stick with the EU.

I drink cheap beer, and I use cheap lube.   None of that elitist crap for me.

The "Vote Leave" success illustrates Obama's penchant for stepping in it with his foreign policy. During his visit in April, Obama had the audacity to tell the Brits that they were going to the “back of the queue” in trade with the U.S. if they dared to leave the EU. This seemed to only help to galvanize support for the exit. Andrew Roberts wrote in WSJ:

"Surely—surely—this is an issue on which the British people, and they alone, have the right to decide, without the intervention of President Obama, who adopted his haughtiest professorial manner when lecturing us to stay in the EU, before making the naked threat that we would be sent “to the back of the queue” (i.e., the back of the line) in any future trade deals if we had the temerity to vote to leave"

Thanks Obama

Hardly a naked threat... Rolling Eyes   Just the inconvenient truth.  When negotiating trade deals the US has no reason to spend much time with such minor leaguers. Have them leave their number with the receptionist. We'll get back to them.

Jones thinks it's the Bernie effect when in fact it's the Trump effect. One of the big drivers in the process was immigration control. The big losers in this are going to be the former east Bloc of the USSR countries that are now semi-protected from a more predatory Russia. Perhaps Putin will create a new Eastern European Union to rival the limping and gimping EU. The US fought a Civil war to decide whether the States had certain rights and British secession from the EU is not at all unlike how that started.

The BREXIT vote is a very good sign that other parts of the world are waking up to the evil and the dangers that come from repressive liberal socialism.  While the UK is more conservative than most of the continent, they still are democrat socialists.  Therefore for them to break the yoke of the centralized socialist nightmare creeping across Europe is a very bright sign and offers conservatives a glimmer of hope in their battle with the evil cretins.

Conservatives need to keep up the good fight.  Spit in the face of every liberal you encounter and don’t be afraid to kick these evil cretins when you have them down.  Liberals are a subhuman species that do not deserve a place in a civilized society.

Closer to home, I am hoping that Texas votes to secede from the Union.  I am thinking it might be wise to buy some property in Texas in case they do secede.  I would expect a rush of people trying to move into Texas if that happens and one would expect current landowners to be given preference.

Scots already turned down leaving Britain 55% - 45% but if they should decide to leave, more power to them. I'm about 1/3 Scot and 1/3 English but I always favored the Scots secession. The remaining Norwegian in me doesn't give a siht. There won't be any EU for them to join but I still support their independence movement.

Much better. At least these articles don't depict Angela Merkel burning the EU flag. Rolling Eyes

Germany's position on the UK is hardly conciliatory. They are trying to keep them vested in the EU. To point to any of this as evidence that the EU will be gone on 5 years is absurd. We don't even know where the UK will shake out. What happens to them if they end up getting split up? Will other countries follow suit? Maybe. Will they leave? Who knows. May make for a good bargaining chip with the EU though.
