Something to ponder.
Found this elsewhere and the words need to be given serious thought
Subverting The US Government
I shake my head at what is happening and the extreme division that has been created in our country. Let me explain;
We hear the leftwing and their media put forth a theory of Russian subversion of our election process through hacking. They have offered no concrete proof beyond a single "17 intelligence agency" talking point that is now approximately a year old, but has had no meat added to it. Swamp creatures on both the left and right proclaim how terrible this was.
Meanwhile, in the land of reality, what we are seeing play out everyday in front of our own lying eyes and ears, is the actual real subversion of our government. A true and concerted effort to undermine and undo the democratically conducted election held last November. A coordinated effort to undermine and destroy our democratically elected President and undo the election of last fall by swamp creatures on both the left and right. We recently watched testimony by a senior government official who admitted to two key things. He admitted to leaking government documents to the press for the express purpose of spurring on the selection of a special prosecutor with the goal of damaging a President that he admitted to having a strong dislike for. He also testified to complying with direction from the previous AG to mischaracterize a criminal investigation of a political candidate for political purposes.
Daily, we see democrat politicians call for impeachment of the sitting President without citing any real evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors.
We do have subversion of our government going on right before our eyes. But you need not look at the Russians. But look at the democrat party, and some of you should look in the mirror.
Sort of reminds one of the comments attributed to Nikita Khrushchev
"We will take America without firing a shot ... we will bury you!“ We can’t expect the American people to jump from capitalism to communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have communism.
We do not have to invade the United States, we will destroy you from within"

He was at least partially right. The thing that saves us is the continuing gross attacks on us by other groups that wake us up to the reality of the threat. We stifle one threat then another pops up and we wake up again. We need those returns to reality to maintain our freedom. What happens when no threats come along to stir us out of our reverie? TBD

Well, there are a couple of things at play here ....
"There's none so blind as those who will not see"
and,
"You cannot make someone pay attention to something that he or she does not want to notice."

If you look at our history we tend to want to live the good life without the encumberances of concern for being ever vigilant. So far that has worked, in the future, I don't think so. The airplane and weapons of mass destruction have seen to that. It will become necessary for guys like Trump to shake us out of past and into the 21st century. Problem is, the Libs have lulled us into such a state that I feel the only thing that will jar us out of it is another catastrophe like 9-11. We seem destined to watching freedom circle the drain.

Those who have proven themselves traitors to this great nation will be sought out and dealt with appropriately. A record of their words and actions are being compiled.

Cicero revisited
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”

A Fifth Column is a force to be feared. This isn't the first one in US history nor will it be the last. However, Trump is his own worst enemy and now it's time for him to cease tweeting and let his VP and surrogates do his street fighting for him. If he had been more discreet and savvy this special investigation would have never happened. It would have faded away. This is an unneeded distraction.

Re: Something to ponder.
I think Trump is still playing to his base quite effectively. His agenda has been slowed by the obstructive Dems at every turn. The tweets and off the wall comments are hitting hard in a manner the left doesn't really know how to counter. I don't think that his agenda will go forward by virtue of going to a more centrist position and becoming the more conventional politician. In my view his seeming attempts to shoot himself in the foot have really done no harm as he appears to be right every time. Obama was the Manchurian Candidate and we have chosen an exact polar opposite to undo his subversion. Fight on Trump, we're with you.Gomezz Adddams wrote:Skeptical wrote:

Re: Something to ponder.
There isn't another human being alive, and damn sure politician, that could hold up as well as Donald Trump. I'm not saying he is perfect but he is still standing after the greatest political onslaught thrown by both parties at an individual. The Donald has changed politics and made the old political brinkmanship obsolete. I will applaud him all day long and into the night.

The problem is his incessant (and sometimes incoherent) tweeting combined with all his inane remarks are sucking all the oxygen out of the room and inhibiting his ability to push his agenda and legislation in Congress. This is putting him in the position of working at cross purposes with his Republican allies. Trump and the Republicans have been given all the tools to really accomplish something but I'm just seeing that all being squandered away (except for Neil Gorsuch), with all these hearings. Trump can't do it all by himself and it's time he becomes cognizant of that.

I think he's convinced we need to bite the bullet and "drain the swamp". Right now he'd dealing with the fact that when you're up to your ass in alligators it's difficult to remember that your original intent was to drain the swamp. He needs to drain the swamp before any of his more aggressive agenda will become fact. The hearings we're seeing now are a real eye open to the deep state that we keep hearing about. Seeing a few old guard Reps into pasture is going to help. They are protecting the deep state. If there is any collusion it's between them and the Dems to undo Trump. As for the hearings, they need to backfire on the Dems and might actually wind up seeing a few Dems in the stewpot. McCain isn't helping with his disjointed seemingly irrelevant ramblings.
