Lincoln the movie

One word ... woof. I seriously want all 2 1/2 (as in a very long 2.5) hours of my life back. Bad history, bad acting, bad writing, just total crap. What a snore fest. From the overly contrived scene where Union soldiers recite the Gettysburg Address to Lincoln, to stilted dialog that sounds like Rx drug commercials actors explaining all the side effects and contraindications and horribly sophomoric acting by a star studded cast (if I hear one more D D Lewis delivered homily I'll scream). Tony Kushner, the screenplay writer, should be hung with a short rope for this horrible mess. And then Steven Spielberg. I can only hope my DVD player wasn't harmed in the playing of this turd.

Note to the Film Academy: Take back D D Lewis' Best Actor Oscar as his crap would only pass for acting in a community theater.

Costuming, makeup and cinematography were superb. I should qualify that the cinematography was excellent when they used some f^&$#@g lighting. Most of the time the damn scenes were so dark it only served to increase my desire for sleep. "Four snore and 150 minutes ago, Lil Stevie brought forth what only loosely could be called a movie" Suspect Bleeecch!

I haven't seen it.

But on the lighting.....maybe they were going for the lighting of the time? It's not like the lighting was so good back in the 1860s.....

They didn't even have compact florescent bulbs back then...primitive, just primitive. Warming deniers!

I believe Spielberg was attempting to achieve the dark mood enveloping the country as the war had drug on so long but still the lighting was too dark for the movie so much so that it was a distraction.

Based on your explanation...when the Obama movie comes out it will be an endless black screen and Barack stuttering and saying the Republicans aren't bi-partisan. I think I will pass on that movie also unless it is mandatory.

That movie was a complete disappointment. Don't waste any money on it, except as a substitute for sleeping pills. The most obvious and glaring error was the very title. Naming it "Lincoln" was ridiculous. It only encompassed a few months of Lincoln's life and was hardly any kind of summation of his life. A better title may have been, "The 13th Amendment". This could have been a good story, but was reduced to boring and shallow.
