RIP Prince
You know the guy from the Dos Equis commercials (the Most Interesting Man in the World), he once asked Prince for his autograph!

Re: RIP Prince
No doubt Prince was an influential musician but I'm damn sick of the endless coverage. I never owned one of his albums and my playlist probably consists of maybe five of his songs. "Little Red Corvette" and "Let's Go Crazy" are my favorites. Hail and farewell Prince.

Agreed. I wasn't a big fan of his, but there's no doubt he was a great musical genius.Gomezz Adddams wrote:No doubt Prince was an influential musician but I'm damn sick of the endless coverage. Re: RIP Prince
I guess as far as the level of coverage goes, it depends on who you want to compare it to. Compared to one of the many Hillary Clinton witch hunts it seems pretty calm. But yes, considering the fact that I had almost forgotten he existed it seems like quite a bit. News must be slow.
However, he was extremely talented and has already been missed for years. My faves include Seven, Batdance (from the original Batman soundtrack), and I also have a bit of a soft spot for Little Red Corvette.
RIP Prince.

Little Red Corvette, not a song about a car.

That it isn't. Great metaphor and lyrics. The official video rocks!

Re: RIP Prince
I wasn't a fan as I don't like the style of performance he did. Same for MJ and anything that resembles his style as well. Never went for the big production extravaganza style shows either. Other than that I love a broad range of music. Prince has proven to be just that, a Prince to his craft and those who knew him.. RIP and keep on keepin on.

Re: RIP Prince
That was the beauty of Prince. Some artists are good vocally(Celine Dion), other artists have a tight hook (Justin Timberlake), but Prince was the type of artist who could mainline your senses and make you connect at a different level. It's one thing to sing about sex, but it's another thing to feel it.BladeRunner wrote:Little Red Corvette, not a song about a car.

You called it.
The author of that piece is an idiot. He doesn't know what a conservative Christian is. And Prince Rogers was NOT a conservative Christian.

Christian? Yes
Supporter of homosexuality? No
Homosexual himself? Not by a long shot
You people should really check your facts before you try to pigeonhole someone into being something they're not...

Re: RIP Prince
Good article at The Atlantic on Prince reconciling his straightness/androgynousness with the qweers embracing of him as an icon.
From 2008:

From 2008:
“Here’s how it is: You’ve got the Republicans, and basically they want to live according to this.” He pointed to a Bible. “But there’s the problem of interpretation, and you’ve got some churches, some people, basically doing things and saying it comes from here, but it doesn’t. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you’ve got blue, you’ve got the Democrats, and they’re, like, ‘You can do whatever you want.’ Gay marriage, whatever. But neither of them is right.”
