Bozell is wrong
"The Gettysburg Address was an attempt at healing the nation's wounds" from the Civil War..."
Bozell is wrong in that respect about the Gettysburg Address. Read the Gettysburg Address carefully and you'll find that Lincoln is reveling in the glory of the Union victory.
Only Union soldiers are buried at Gettysburg. The Confederates were all thrown into mass graves and were the last to be buried. The mothers, daughters and wives of the Confederacy have painstakingly repatriated the bodies to Virgina where most are buried at Hollywood Cemetery.
Lincoln is referring to the Union soldiers here. He gives not one whit for the Confederates.
Advance whose work? Certainly not the Confederates. They lost and barely made it back to Virginia. There is no nobility in their defeat.
It is only the rebirth of the Union that will prevent the Union deaths for being taken in vain. The Confederates were fighting for their new Nation. Lincoln doesn't care. Lincoln is exhorting the North to continue his Crusade.
Also note that Lincoln sets the birth of the Nation not in 1789 with the ratification of the Constitution but in 1776 ("four score and seven years ago") before the Union was formed. He is not glorifying or edifying the Constitution, he is rewriting it.
Lincoln was a tyrant and so too is Obama.

We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting-place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live

The brave men, living and dead who struggled here have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract.

It is for us the living rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.

...that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion--that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain...

my opinion about Lincoln has definitely changed in the last few years.
Not sure I am to the point of calling him a tyrant yet, but states rights did take a hit because of him.

Read "The Real Lincoln" by Thomas DeLirenzo. It's a real eye opener.
You can read a lot of his essays over at lewrockwell.com. Here's his archives:

Here's a taste:
The Lincoln administration set the template for tactic of using war as an excuse to destroy constitutional liberties. Lincoln illegally suspended Habeas Corpus and imprisoned tens of thousands of Northern political dissenters without due process; shut down hundreds of opposition newspapers in the Northern states; deported a political opponent, Congressman Clement L. Vallandigham of Ohio; confiscated firearms in the border states; illegally created the state of West Virginia out of Northwestern Virginia; and much more. Indeed, Lincoln’s invasion of the Southern states was the very definition of treason under Article 3, Section 3 of the Constitution which reads: "Treason" against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort" (emphasis added). The founders were careful to always speak of "the United States" in the plural in all of the founding documents. That’s why the constitution’s definition of treason refers to "them" and "their." A central government that wages war against the free and independent states (the language of the Declaration of Independence) is guilty of treason. That of course is precisely what Lincoln did. (He always insisted that the Southern states never legally seceded, were never a legitimately separate country, and were always a part of the U.S.).

It's great information---a different view than what we've been taught.
Lincoln had been one of my favorite presidents, but of course I was not educated as far as what he had actually done. All we heard about in school was that he ended slavery.
Sadly, he did a lot more than that.
