What if Obama was the President in Dec 1941?

What if FDR showed the same narcissistic attitude following the attack of Pearl Harbor as the present MT suit HMWAIC how would FDR reacted?

Would there have been a military response to the attack or would it have been labeled "workplace violence"?

Would he muster a battery of lawyers to charge the pilots and whoever with crimes and attempt to get them via the justice system?

If so, would FDR have gotten rid of the likes of MacArthur, Patton, Bradley, Nimitz, and others so he could micro manage the action from the White House?

Would there have been a request to Congress for a declaration of war?

If he did, what effort would have been put into defeating the military force responsible for the carnage in Hawaii.

Bottom line is ... if FDR had the same attitude of not want to offend anyone what language would be the official language of this country now, Japanese or German??

We'd all be speaking Japanese or more likely German. The Japanese attack on Pearl was intended to Keep the US in the eastern Pacific while they had their way in the western Pacific. The Germans, on the other hand, had developed models to invade the US but they evaporated when England held off the invasion. In theccase of having a liberal-wimp-in-charge Like BarryO it would have ended disastrously for us.

Apples and oranges.  A country actually attacked us at Pearl Harbor.  Today we are dealing with religious faction who is doing the terrorizing.  Let's also not forget the debacle Lil Bush had in bombing the wrong country.  It's much tougher to bomb a flawed ideology than a country, especially when they are so willing to use innocent bystanders as human shields.

LOL, it wasn't and isn't so much as who we fought or are fighting but the attitude and insistence on micro managing what effort is applied to defeating the enemy!

There has been some speculation instead of going back to Japan the Japanese could have continued on to the west coast and may have occupied the western states. This would have drastically changed the whole WW2 action in the Pacific.

Other opinions deal with Hitler and his fixation on Europe and also singling out England for bombing. He could have probably taken the east coast of the US.

The attack of Pearl Harbor shocked this country out of the mindset of isolationism.
