A waste of what? Of time? Hell, it's the butt hurt Democrats who are claiming foul and trying to claim a moral victory out of a an irrelevant national popular vote.

We just had a three way race and yet in a year with the two major candidates having the highest unfavorables on record, Gary Johnson can't even come close to winning a electoral vote and barely cleared 4M votes. The last third party candidate to win an electoral vote was George Wallace in 1968. Third parties are for the most part a sideshow in elections.
