Commas make sentences easier to read. Don't be scared to use them.
That should be "Don't be afraid to use them". You are using a verb when an adjective is called for. Scared is a verb while afraid is an adjective. The adjective is modifying an unspoken "You". Your sentence would make even better sense if it was constructed thusly:
"Commas make sentences easier to read. You shouldn't be afraid to use them." Note how you don't sound like a toothless hillbilly standing in line at the welfare office.
