Re: More dirty laundry
I don't think this pastor should be "judged". I think he should be let in any church and the church should give him stuff, and perform ceremonyies for him etc etc. And any church that doesn't, shouldn't call themselves a church.

Why put her in any light?
Sounds like judging to me.
Do you know what's in her heart?
What are your "thots" ?

She was judged and convicted by a jury of her peers. IMO, the monetary sentence was a little "light". But she probably can't pay it anyway.
What do you think?

Re: More dirty laundry
Would the woman have fared any better under traditional treatment? I just had a brother who died of cancer. The doctors said he only had a year without treatment. After thousands of dollars of toxic chemicals poured into his body and numerous healing masses and prayer circles he dies this spring two years after first being diagnosed. One extra year was all he could buy. Didn't see his Dr or priest being tried for fraud.

Re: More dirty laundry
Interesting this story on the Huffington Post makes no mention of her being an evangelical minister, only being a doctor.

Re: More dirty laundry
RWB, you completely miss the point. Why bring this issue up at all?
And....why would a Christian pastor bring up the problems of churches and/or Christians almost on a daily basis?
All it does is add fuel to the fire of non-Christians that already have issues with Christian hypocrisy.

Possibly because it's news worthy, and likely of interest to millions of Americans who have or have a loved one with cancer. Possibly, because this story could prevent others from being scammed.
From Gomezz's link: "LOS ANGELES --
Daniel, 58, was found guilty of 11 counts, including wire fraud, tax evasion and witness tampering in September 2011.
She enticed patients to take her herbal product and charged them as much as $100,000 for a six-month treatment program that she claimed could cure cancer, diabetes and multiple sclerosis, authorities said.
Some of her patients, however, died from complications of cancer within three to six months after taking the supplement. In one case, prosecutors contend a 22-year-old woman who had a highly curable form of neck lymphoma died because she relied on Daniel's recommendation to avoid radiation or chemotherapy treatments.
"The scope of Daniel's fraud was breathtaking," U.S. Attorney Andre Birotte Jr. said --
Some patients also endured additional pain and suffering because they took the herbal tonic provided by Daniel."

Why would the vocation of the poster bringing it up, have any relevance? How is it a problem of any church or religion? This was an individual on trial. Read up.

My purpose in posting that link is because it makes absolutely no mention of her being a minister. None. If you had only read this article any reasonable person would conclude that it was just another case of a fraudulent doctor of which there are plenty. The fact she is a minister is irrelevant.

Yes. Exactly Gomezz.
As I said in my 1:02 post to Blade: "Why would the vocation of the poster bringing it up, have any relevance? How is it a problem of any church or religion? This was an individual on trial. Read up."
This is not a "problem" of any church, nor of Christians in general - - as Blade tries to insinuate. None. (that's why I posted part of the article for him)

Re: More dirty laundry
Hey RWB, did you read the TITLE of the thread at the site the "click here" icon took you to?
It clearly states what the vocation of the person involved is.
Pastor sells concoction to "cure cancer" and now faces jail time
Still you miss the point that the continued dirty laundry being displayed by this guy at GPLV.
He does this to Christians on a nearly daily basis.
Maybe you should ask JT the question of "What does the vocation of this person have to do with anything"......
HE'S THE ONE THAT BROUGHT UP THE VOCATION FIRST--in the title of the GPLV thread.

Re: More dirty laundry
Actually the heading is from the link he used (a Christian publication, so that's probably why the "pastor" angle was used in that story).
The poster did use "physician" vocation first in his post (if you think that matters):
" - - - Daniel, a physician and Pentecostal minister - - - "
IMO - neither the vocation of the article's subject, nor the poster's, is relevant.
BTW - I don't think you answered yet. Do you think Daniel's sentence was severe enough, or too severe?
