Here's a bone to chew on...

A new FB friend who is from South Africa just posed this question...

I've never known the difference between someone who is Liberal or Conservative. When I do ask, I am more confused than before. I wish to not be ignorant.

Here's what I answered...

In the US, Conservatives believe in God [and the tenets listed in the Bible,] Country [and the abilities of it's people,] rugged individualism and the Constitution as a written document.

Liberals here believe for the most part in atheism, the larger world, the collective and that the Constitution is a "living breathing document" always open to interpretation and evolving as the times change.

Anyone want to to add to [or tell me off about] this?

Liberals consider it a "right" to murder defenseless unborn babies.

Liberals believe any and all sexual perversions are normal an natural an demand acceptance and celebration.

Liberals believe government is responsible for providing all their needs...no one should have more than another and only government is capable of deciding what is right and what is wrong although punishment will be tailored depending on your political beliefs.

Liberals believe having children is a burden.

Liberals despise freedom, liberty and independent thought.

Conservatives believe decisions should be made at the government level closest to the people.

Conservatives believe freedom and liberty are not free and come at the highest of costs.

Conservatives view government with some contempt and skepticism.

Just invite your FB friend to join this forum and read some of "liberals' dumb ass posts.

I had no idea that "liberals" are mostly atheists.
Since Christians are about equally split between Republican and Democrat, what do you suppose all those non-Christian Republicans are? (most of them would have to be something else if your claim is true) I doubt they are all Jewish. So maybe Muslim or Hindu?

If there ARE Chirstian lefties in your count, they'd most likely be papists, and I don't consider papists to be Christian.

Nice try at diversion. Nothing said about his "conservatism". It was his Christian/catholic designation.

Back on the discussion & your claim that liberals are mostly atheists: Christians (and Catholics) are about evenly split between dem and repub. So, what are most of the republicans? Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, what?
Are you still saying that your claim of liberals being mostly atheists is actually true? If so, then explain please. Most republicans must be something other than Christian. Tell us what.

I'd tell him being a conservative is about fiscal responsibility and limited government. Religion has nothing to do with it.

Liberals want to reward those who provide less to society and believe the government should care for all citizens. Kinda like socialism.

Democrat = Socialist = Liberal = Marxist = Communism.

It all leads to the same end but some are too stupid to realize it.
