Bo Airlifted to Martha's Vinyard
Thank goodness the presidential dog was airlifted to the current vacation spot of the first grifters.

"The Ospreys – making their presidential debut - shuttled White House staff, media and Secret Service members from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod.
The sleek tilt-rotor aircraft can take off like a helicopter but fly like an airplane."
Cool aircraft !!
-----------------
The uk source is the only one reporting that the dog also flew on it. Does it really matter which aircraft the dog was on?
Is that where your loyalties are, Darth? (the uk?)
BTW - Why does the President get 8 days, and congress gets the whole month for vacation?

The Osprey is an overpriced piece of shiste that should have been scrapped years ago. There have been 7 crashes with 36 dead.RedWhiteBlue wrote:"The Ospreys – making their presidential debut - shuttled White House staff, media and Secret Service members from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod.

"The Osprey has raised some safety concerns over the years. It earned the unceremonious nickname “the Widowmaker” after crashes during initial development and testing.
In late 2000, the Corps grounded the fleet after two crashes, one in Arizona killing four crew members and 15 passengers and another in North Carolina that killed the crew.
But engineers redesigned the craft for improved safety and the Marines have used them extensively in Afghanistan."

"One safe aircraft
Despite two V-22 crashes in 2012 — one Marine Corps, one Air Force and both blamed on the pilots – the Osprey has maintained a good safety record since it was redesigned and retested after 2001. During that time, the fleet has accumulated nearly 170,000 flight hours, with the Marines accounting for about 140,000 of that total. Three Osprey crashes over those 12 years have claimed six lives, compared to more than 600 deaths in more than 400 military helicopter crashes since Oct. 1, 2001.
Combat in Afghanistan has shown in dramatic fashion that the Osprey can take fire and keep flying. “The aircraft are not being babied,” Masiello said. On more than one occasion, Ospreys have taken “very intense fire and the aircraft were hit,” he said, yet “were able to continue to execute their mission,” returned to base and were repaired in the field and sent back into action. “This is the most survivable aircraft that we own,” Masiello declared, adding that he could “back that up with engineering data.” "

Re: Bo Airlifted to Martha's Vinyard
Isn't it a damn shame that members of Seal Team 6 were killed flying in a Vietnam era huey helicopter when Bo the dog flies in the newest military vertical launch craft available. What do you think about Obama's priorities? Do you think his dog has higher priorities then our military? Do you know of any other dogs that have flown in an Osprey? Thanks for reading my post.RedWhiteBlue wrote:Aaaahhhhhh - - - - thanks.Gomezz Adddams wrote:Because they can. When data is hidden and obfuscation is the order of the day, the military could make a pancake filled with glass shards appear safe. The Osprey remains an incredibly expensive machine to manufacture and to operate ($83,256@ hour) and still remains unsafe.RedWhiteBlue wrote:Aaaahhhhhh - - - - thanks.Gomezz Adddams wrote:Because they can. "But its helicopter role is always very precarious. The shortcomings of the V-22 have to do with the design of the aircraft. The biggest concern over the aircraft is that it has smaller rotors. As a helicopter, that is working very hard to stay in the air."
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Japan/NG10Dh01.html
"As the V-22 program seeks another five-year contract to produce 98 more V-22s, the sales pitch is spinning faster than ever. The V-22 has a poor safety record, yet Marine spokesmen repeatedly claim that the "Navy Safety Center reports ...". This is because the Marines only report V-22 Class A mishaps to Navy Safety Center if the mishap becomes public. In other cases, airborne mishaps are reported as "ground" mishaps or false damage estimates are made to remain below the Class A reporting requirement."
http://www.g2mil.com/V-22Amishaps.htm
"The cost for the Marines to fix and fly their full fleet of V-22 tiltrotors has grown by nearly two-thirds over just four years, according to a Pentagon estimate. In 2008, the Defense Department calculated the “lifetime” cost of operating 360 V-22 Osprey transports at $75 billion over roughly 30 years. Today the figure is more than $121 billion — a 61-percent increase."
"Leaving aside its safety record, the V-22 ain’t cheap. A single Osprey costs $60 million to purchase, plus millions more to support. For comparison, a Navy F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter is actually slightly cheaper to buy. And the Army’s workhorse UH-60 Blackhawk chopper can be had for around $15 million apiece."
"Four years after being declared combat-ready, the V-22 has readiness rate of just 69 percent, compared to 85 percent for a Blackhawk."

Darth - Was the dog actually on that flight? Your uk source seems to be the only original source on that. Staff & press did get the ride, though - according to various sources. Would it really matter, where the dog rode (if Bo was even there - was he - maybe he was with the girls)
