Yawn, yet another crappy CNN article. Got a 10/10. The Jesuits in Latin America are believers in Liberation Theology, a twisted exegesis of the Bible and is nothing more than Marxism dressed up in the regalia of the Catholic Church. Reverend Wright, Obama's minister, preached Black Liberation Theology while the Empty Suit sat in the pews for 20 some years and claimed he didn't know what Wright was talking about. Liberation Theology has been condemned by the Vatican as being incompatible with human rights and liberty.

LOL, funny how you take those verses out of context and not include verses 14-30.

Yeah, I've read that. I don't think it means what you think it means. Actually, I'm pretty sure it's opposite of what you think.

Almost forgot to thank you Dr. Jones for your response.

IMHO, 2 Thessalonians 3, especially Verse 10 comes closer to the criteria I suggested .

For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

Now, please provide the reference to the able bodied lazy who refuse to work have a right to be provided for.

What socialism scheme of things?   Bernie is the only self-described socialist in this country with any sort of relevant following, and he doesn't support that.  So exactly what is it that you are talking about?

Next you should try reading Matthew 14:13-21. 5,000 people were fed without any mention of work. You really should study your Bible more.

Well it certainly doesn't mean having the FEDERAL government take care of people who won't provide for themselves with TAXPAYER dollars.

What it MEANS is something that hypocritical progressive socialists will never accept.  It means that when people are in need, it is the responsibility of PEOPLE to help them, NOT the government.

That is what was done in this country and done quite well up until the progressive liberals began fundamentally changing America.  Just in the last 50 years the federal government has spent over $22 trillion dollars on LBJ's WAR ON POVERTY.  That is way more money than we have spent on ALL wars combined.  And what has been the result?  The percentage of people living in poverty has stayed the same since the mid 60's and the total number of people living in poverty has soared.  Nice job assholes.

And if that wasn't bad enough, the division between the very rich and the very poor has never been greater.  But what should we expect when LIBERAL programs and policies prevent people from working - YES PREVENTS.  If a person earns too much, they will lose their free democrat handouts.

And then the progressive liberals DEMEAN the stock market ridiculing the lower middle class into NOT investing their modest savings thus preventing them from enjoying the prosperity that many Americans have enjoyed as a result of the benefits of personal investing.

  Progressive liberals are evil cretins.

That's funny, isn't it. The teachings of Jesus are pretty simple and straight forward, yet Christians spend more time interpreting them to their own convenient needs than actually trying to follow them.
