In a good sign for people looking for work, the U.S. economy gained 280,000 jobs in May.

However, IIRC the other report last week showed the number applying for jobless benefits for May was 276,000 which means there were 4,000 LESS laid off then hired.  At first glance this 4,000 net gain just doesn't indicate a booming or robust economy as the MT suit HMWAIC supporters would like the rest of us to believe.

And don't forget that a record number of people, 93+M, aren't even actively looking for work.

That fact is only forgotten by the MT suit HMWAIC supporters so they feel good.

The actual unemployment rate is over 10%. Some of the churn is retirees and new people coming into the job market from school. Too bad the numbers only reflect those on unemployment benefits and doesn't reflect those who have simply dropped out. My oldest daughter dropped out about 7 yrs ago when she got laid off and dropped off the radar when her benefits ran out.
