What did you guys expect the rest of the world's oil pumpers to do? Just stand by idly while someone else ate their lunch??? Hell no. Just as any good capitalist, they crank open the spigot to flood out the new competition. Now what? Are we going to have to bail these guys out? And Dr Jones, this will get even more interesting now that President Obama has agreed to normalize trade relations with Iran and we will be able to buy their oil too.

I am sort of sad for the situation in ND though. Things have ground to a halt very quickly.

Ooooh but this is 'Murica. At least our refineries wouldn't choose Iranian oil over our 'Murican crude, regardless of the price. Right???

In some ways it's sad, yes. For me though, I've been on the receiving end of the Bakken BS. Rail freight has skyrocketed, the price of heavy equipment has as well.

I guess all that glitters isn't necessarily gold, and we can't drill our way out of every problem.

A pipeline to pump what? At these prices the Bakken will dry up faster than the dancers' pussies do when you walk into the strip joint.

I'm certainly not going to complain about lower prices. It's just too bad for them it wasn't a little better thought out. The worst part is that ExxonMobil or BP will dive in and snatch these rigs up for a song when the current owners go belly up. A little bit more of that capitalism for you....

Working just fine Fcukstik. OPEC is toast and the dumb azz towelheads will be broke in a couple of years after they've burned through their cash reserves which will collapse not only their economy but their government as well. The Saudis economy is dependent on a price of $100+ @ barrel to balance their budget because without oil they have no economy. Texas and ND cracking fields are mid level expensive and while new wells aren't being drilled older productive wells are still pumping. The Saudis were too late to the game as now any price increase will cause the U.S. oil industry to reopen capped wells and to drill new ones. The Saudis can't play the long game because they don't have a diverse economy.
