This is why the country needs a new education secretary !
The following is a good indication why the US is ranked almost 40th in education in the world.
The following questions were set in last year's GED examination These are genuine answers (from 16 year olds) . [Yikes they are on the street.]

I have a couple of relatives and friends who are teachers in the public system. The stories they tell are classic. Their biggest complaint is social promotion. A HS diploma is worthless in many cases and some employers are giving prospects a test to see if they can read and write.

Re: This is why the country needs a new education secretary !
Our public school systems have become a daycare for dysfunctional children from broken homes. Normal children from nuclear families fall by the wayside as all resources go to the children with behavior and learning problems. Previously we largely escaped this national phenomenon but it has now arrived and setting the agenda. These are facts coming from a person intimately knowledgeable to the profession. The superintendents, administrators, principles, and councilors have all bought into the liberal ideology and willingly toss aside normal kids to shower never ending attention to the misfits and psychopaths that have been created by the new dysfunctional liberal families. Their little demons are always correct and will viciously attack any teacher that dares challenges them and actually tries to educate them. They are doomed to a system that will produce adults who will never function and probably become wards of the state through incarceration. The system is broken and we are moving farther and farther away from being able to educate our children so they may have a better life than their parents. Perhaps this was the plan all along...

Most of our Grandchildren are putting their kids in private schools and home schooling them part of the time. In their cases both parents are working full time jobs or own their own businesses. Two of them are public school teachers to boot!!! I have had rtalks with them to determine why they are doing this and it's because of the terrible classroom discipline and general lackadaisical attitude toward learning in the public system. They found that they were doing the teaching anyway so they abandoned the public system altogether.

I don't blame the teachers in the least but rather the government run system. If you can not expect discipline and administer consequences then the system doesn't work. Parents are more interested in being their children's friends than actually being their parent. They are condemning their spawn to a lifetime of misery and don't have the intelligence to see that. Our society has broken down and the only fix will eventually come at the end of a gun barrel. Didn't need to happen this way but the demonrats have created a permanent victim-hood state. May they suffer first and worst.

I can tell you from first hand knowledge that the things our kids are learning, in grade school at least, are phenomenal. Some of their teachers taught me, and they talk about how much harder kids are pushed than they were when I was in school. To say that they are slacking in any way is just simply not true. It is a pleasure helping them with homework knowing how hard they are being challenged. I don't know much about common core, but I look forward to watching their minds work their way through that portion of their homework.
In regard to parenting and child engagement, I see two big problems. First is sports. School has become a sports program with a little learning on the side. Parents are to blame for this. They have to put their kids in as many sports as they can physically shove them in so they can get some sort of parent of the year award. Conservatives love to rag on 'participation trophies'. Win or lose, it's all just a 'participation trophy'. Some of these kids should learn to handle a broom instead of a basketball. I think that playing sports makes kids as lazy as playing video games. And all these sports leads to less family time. Which leads me to my other point. Jobs. A family can't get by anymore on 1 or 1.5 jobs. It's 2+ now, which means less time with your family, and more time with your kids being raised by whatever they find on TV. It would be nice if Americans could afford to live a life that was rooted in better family values. But that's not in the cards. Everybody has to work to pay their dues to those at the top.

I'm sure your children are learning about gay sex and pedophilia...you know, the important things to liberals. Anyone who thinks the school systems are doing well needs to pull their head out of their ass and see how we rank globally...it's pitiful. Kids aren't pushed, they are coddled and told what special snowflakes they are and transgender is cool.
