Mike Rowe on education
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/10/23/mike-rowe-of-dirty-jobs-speaks-about-hard-work-how-many-are-following-the-worst-advice-in-the-history-of-the-world/
My kid graduated last year from high school. He didn't want to go into debt by getting a student loan, so he found a skilled labor job to save money for college, if he decides to go. It's good hard work, and he's pulling in a lot of doe. And he's too busy working to spend it. Sometimes putting in over 70 hours a week.
At this rate, even after a year or two, he'll have enough for a 4 or 5 year degree anywhere in the state.
There's jobs out there if these kids just look for them and if they are willing to work their butts off.
He's correct. There's a lot of jobs out there where kids can make a lot of money, if they just want to work.“We’re lending money we don’t have, to kids who will never be able to pay it back, for jobs that no longer exist,” he explained, echoing what he told TheBlaze TV’s Andrew Wilkow earlier this month. “That’s crazy, right? That’s what we’ve been doing for the last forty years.”

Re: Mike Rowe on education
There are jobs out there and good paying if you put in the time and become skilled. About 95% of college degrees will get you nowhere except in debt. Plumbers, carpenters, HVAC skilled workers are in demand and can make pretty good money. There is also a certain satisfaction after seeing something you have accomplished. I can't think of any professional degree that will ave a guaranteed good job waiting after school...experience is what is sought.
