The Power of the Armed Individual

In the gun/gun control debate the private individual is many times mocked with the statement "You think owning a gun scares a government that possess tanks, fighter jets, and nuclear bombs?" But consider this:

Francis Marion and his irregulars defeated General Cornwallis and the greatest army in the world in the South Carolina swamps.

A vastly better equipped French Army eventually won the Battle of Algiers battling the ragtag FLN but lost the political victory.

The German Army suffered over 27,000 casualties in the Warsaw Uprising fighting a very poorly equipped Polish Resistance.

We have been fighting a couple thousand insurgents in Afghanistan for the last 12 years...how is that working out?

Doesn't matter, he is full fledged dictator now and could care less what Congress thinks. They haven't stopped him on any other power grab and won't on this one except some kabuki theatre.
