Fascism roots lie deep within Socialism. Mussolini was a former Socialist. Hitler claimed he was a Socialist albeit a new type. FDR admired Mussolini and his Fascism and many of America's Progressives/Socialists thought Fascism as an ideal political/economic philosophy, no doubt attracted to it's overarching central government and all of it's central economic planning. The idea that Fascism evolved from the Right Wing is a falsehood propagated by the Left after they saw the horror Fascism wrought on the world with WWII
